Poway, San Diego County
Poway incorporated in December 1980 under the motto The City in the Country and has kept about half its land as open space. Old Poway Park, in the middle of town, recalls the farm village of the early 1900s with a small museum, a weekend farmers market and a volunteer-run railroad that gives rides behind a restored steam locomotive.
